Associate Invited Professor of Pneumology of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas (School of Medical Sciences) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, since 1985, until May 1999. Retired from the National Health Service and University on May 1999.
  • Actual Director of the Department of Lung Diseases of the Hospital Particular de Lisboa.
  • Clinical Director of Pneumomedical, Respiratory Center of Lung Function, since 1977.
  • Ancient President of the Board of lung specialists of the Portuguese College of Medecine.
  • Founding member of the Sociedade Portuguesa of Pneumology and the European Respiratory Society (ex Societas Europea Pneumologica), member of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina Intensiva, the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the American Thoracic Society and Fellow of the American College of Chest Physiciancs.
